We are feeling so much gratitude as we enter the n We are feeling so much gratitude as we enter the new year with bountiful mētta from our sangha siblings’ stories! We still need $12,000 to reach our goal, and we invite you to give during this final week of our Season of Gratitude campaign!

This week our dear Leadership Sangha (board) member Anjali shares her journey of connecting to EBMC and finding herself immersed in a deeply diverse community of care. Click link in bio to read Anjali’s story and help us reach our campaign goal ♥️🌸

“Radical inclusivity is a core value at EBMC and the one that I hold closest to my heart. When I applied to be on the Leadership Sangha (board) of EBMC, I shared that I have a learning disability, and that I was not born in this country: my people come from South Asia and the Middle East. In most spaces I do not acknowledge these things -– in fact sometimes I actively try to overcome them -– but in this case I was open about these aspects of my identity. The acceptance I felt from the Leadership Sangha as I was enthusiastically welcomed into the group gave me greater self-love and confidence. I now serve on a few EBMC committees. This experience deepened my sense of belonging to EBMC. I want this deep acceptance, radical inclusivity and open access for everyone; I want our Center to thrive. Join me today, to give back to EBMC so others can find this refuge for learning, giving, self-love, and peace.” - Anjali

WANT TO START A MEDITATION PRACTICE? Light up your WANT TO START A MEDITATION PRACTICE? Light up your new year by learning basic mindfulness meditation with Mushim Patricia Ikeda, one of EBMC's beloved core teachers. HYBRID CLASSES. Are you looking for a way to start a mindfulness meditation practice, but don’t quite know how? These classes will give you the basics of stationary and walking/gentle movement meditation in the vipassana (insight) style, and metta (loving kindness or good will) meditation. Don’t worry about “getting it right” – if you can sit – on a folding chair, on floor cushions, in a wheelchair – or lie down – and breathe, you’re off to a good start! This series is for those seeking stress reduction, or it can be the gateway to those new to Buddhism. Meditation can help you, over time, to develop a sense of increased physical well-being, mental clarity, compassionate connection, and spiritual growth.

Join us for the first class of the series tomorrow, January 4, at 6:30pm ❣️

Our Season of Gratitude is unfolding with many bea Our Season of Gratitude is unfolding with many beautiful stories and we need your help to get to the finish line and meet our fundraising goal in the next five days!

“What I remember vividly from my first class at EBMC, over ten years ago, is the ease and sense of inclusivity that made me feel immediately at home. After my first meditation class at EBMC, I started attending the People of Color (POC) every Thursday, and I deeply resonated with the dharma talks as different teachers would share their spiritual journey with us each week. What I felt at the POC Sangha, and at EBMC in general, was an experience that is different in the ways it deconstructs mainstream narratives of power and privilege. This space felt more familiar to me, a space that is more rooted in cultivating connection and sustainability.”

We are thrilled to share a story with you this week from long time sangha member Angel Ngyuen. Angel shares her journey of finding a spiritual home at EBMC where giving back was a transformative act.
