A day of creative writing and movement meditation

with Arisika Razak and Mushim Ikeda

Sunday, November 19th, 2017 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

A fun and relaxing day of creative writing from your personal experience combined with gentle movement meditation to get everyone relaxed. Opportunities to share some of our writing with others and be received with the Dharmic qualities of compassion and loving kindness. Gentle movement meditation for all abilities and Dharma talks. No previous experience in movement or writing required. You’re invited to bring a non-scented object or an image that connects you to the body, your life experience, or the Dharma.

Mushim Ikeda:

Mushim Patricia Ikeda is a core teacher at EBMC, and a widely published author of poetry, nonfiction, and writings on socially-engaged Buddhism. She entered Buddhism through the arts, and she holds an MFA from the Graduate Writers Workshop of the University of Iowa. For more info, see www.mushimikeda.com

Arisika Razak:

Arisika Razak, RN, NM, MPH is the former Chair of the Women’s Spirituality Program at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Her teachings are based on diverse spiritual traditions, women’s health and healing, and contemporary liberation movements. She has led spiritual and healing workshops for women for over 25 years, and healing/meditation workshops for beings of diverse genders for 10 years. She has taught at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and currently teaches in EBMC’s People of Color Sangha and Friday Maha Sangha. A core member of the Purple Moon Dance Project for 20 years, her work with movement and meditation celebrates our diverse spiritualities, ancestral lineages, and varied bodies.

Cost: There is no registration fee for attending this event, nor most EBMC events.  However, EBMC is not independently funded. The Center and the teachers will be sustained only by your voluntary donations (the practice of generous giving, or “dana”). Please donate generously, in proportion to your ability:

* Either online (you will be offered an opportunity during the online registration process, donating online supports EBMC, not the teachers).
* Or at the event, in the two baskets at EBMC, one for the Center, the second for the Teacher

Thank you for your generosity.  EBMC will be only be sustained through our collective generosity.

Fragrance-free: In order to protect the health of community members with environmental illness, please do not wear fragranced products (including “natural” fragrances) or clothes laundered in fragranced products to EBMC.

  EBMC is wheelchair accessible.
