While the Buddha acknowledged the aging, impermanent, and debilitating nature of the body, he also affirmed a Middle Path that suggested the body be treated with respect. In this workshop we will use writing, dharma teachings, science, movement, small group-sharing, and music to explore personal and social beliefs about our bodies. What gateways does the body offer for our awakening? How do we maintain equanimity and joy in the face of illness, and trauma? How can we apply loving-kindness, compassion, and equanimity to our changing, imperfect bodies? Please bring a personal object that represents your relationship with your body.
