The ALPHABET SANGHA:

A meditation group for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex & Same-Gender Loving Communities

Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 pm

With Shahara Godfrey, Joan Doyle, John Mifsud and other guest teachers

You are invited to join us at our weekly meditation group for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex & Same-Gender Loving communities. Because that's such a mouthful, we call ourselves the Alphabet Sangha. We gather for Buddhist meditation practice, Dharma teachings, and friendly, supportive community. Together we explore mindfulness and awareness for cultivating an open heart in our everyday lives.

We are a diverse, multicultural community, committed to social justice and to maintaining a Sangha that's welcoming to people of all races, ethnicities, classes, genders, abilities, sizes and ages.

We welcome people at all levels of practice. Simple beginning meditation instructions are always offered. If you have specific questions about meditation, a teacher is available to answer questions.

Please come fragrance free, to protect the health of all our community members, and to allow accessibility for those with MCS and environmental illnesses. Here are some helpful resources for being fragrance free.

“State of the Center” Director's Report, March 2016

2016 Finances: "As I shared in our Fall 2015 newsletter, we ended 2015 with about $361,000 in total income and $357,000 in expenses. Deep bows of appreciation to our EBMC community for your tremendous generosity, and for the sangha members who shared their beautiful stories about the impact of EBMC in their lives. We surpassed our December 2015 end-of-year fundraising goal, met our matching grant from the Kalliopeia Foundation, and we raised more than we ever have before in our end-of-year fundraising campaign. We had a net of $13,625 for the programs that are transforming lives every day!

For 2016, we are stretching and growing together: we are aiming our sights toward $439,000 in income, and $414,000 in expenses."

Getting Involved: Volunteers are the Heart of EBMC!

Volunteering for EBMC is fun and inspiring, and a great way to deepen your spiritual practice. We have a variety of volunteer positions, some of which can be done anywhere with Internet access, and some of which require being on site at the meditation center, either on a regular basis or for a specific, time-limited project. Our generous, talented volunteers are an important part of the heart of our community, and are all leaders in helping to make EBMC a vibrant and sustainable community resource. For more information, check out our volunteer page.
