SUMMARY:Embodying Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Based on the Leadership Embodiment work of Wendy Palmer \nwith Paul Ciske\, Ph.D. and Anjali Sawhney\, MBA \nThis insightful work based on Aikido and Mindfulness principles allows us to see\, and hold with kindness\, our limiting habitual reactive patterns that arise\, especially when under stress\, while also cultivating a greater capacity for returning to the natural state of compassion and wisdom we call “Center”. \nAll this is accomplished through simple physical and non-physical interactive exercises that metaphorically represent ways we relate to others and ourselves in life and on the meditation cushion. The result is greater embodied awareness\, and embodied wise and compassionate action. (Note: alternative options are available for all physical exercises including those involving touch). \nEmbodying Resilience is a multi-class series held on September 22nd from 9:30AM – 5:00PM and September 24th\, October 1st and 8th from 7-9PM. \nRegistration: Registration is required and space is limited. Click HERE to register. \nCost: There is no registration fee for attending this event\, nor most EBMC events. However\, EBMC is not independently funded. SUMMARY:Liberation: A True Refuge
DESCRIPTION:A seeker’s path to healing and awakening \nFor LGBTQIA Identified \nwith Carol Cano \n“Freedom is not given to us by anyone; we have to cultivate it ourselves. It is a practice.” \nThich Nhat Hanh \nThis three-week series will give a basic understanding and overview of the essential Buddhist teachings and practices of mindfulness meditation. We will explore a cross-cultural approach to Queer spirituality by braiding our dharma practice with indigenous wisdom and develop a trusting relationship with the Great mystery of life. \nWe will practice deepening our relationship with intentional community and integrate practices in Nature. We will also build an altar that represents our teachers of past\, present and future each time we meet.  In the beginning of the class we will create an altar of freedom fighters\, teachers of the heart and wisdom holders from our community. Each time we break the altar down we will acknowledge how precious life is and connect with our purpose in life. \nWe are not alone on this seeker’s path to Liberation. \nREGISTER HERE \nCost: There is no registration fee for attending this event\, nor most EBMC events. However\, EBMC is not independently funded. The Center and the teachers will be sustained only by your voluntary donations (the practice of generous giving\, or “dana”). Please donate generously\, in proportion to your ability: \n* Either online (you will be offered an opportunity during the online registration process to donate to EBMC; the teachers will not receive any part of this online donation).\n* Or at the event\, in the two baskets at EBMC\, one for the Center\, the second for the Teacher. \nThank you for your generosity. EBMC will be only be sustained through our collective generosity. \nFragrance-free: In order to protect the health of community members with environmental illness\, please do not wear fragranced products (including “natural” fragrances) or clothes laundered in fragranced products to EBMC. \nEBMC is wheelchair accessible.

SUMMARY:Finding Harmony in Work Life
DESCRIPTION:Bringing Work into Alignment with Spiritual Practice \nOpen to all \nwith Deb Kerr \nSometimes we struggle with incongruence between meditative life and  work life. It may feel impossible to bring lovingkindness to a tough workplace environment.  Or we feel like our occupation is unaligned with our spirituality. This class will look at ways to bring our work into more harmony with our mindfulness and compassion practices. We’ll be using stationary and moving meditation\, interactive and reflective exercises to explore how we might apply what we practice in meditation to the workplace realities we face every day. SUMMARY:Beyond the Binary: Mindfulness of Gender
DESCRIPTION:Beyond the Binary: Mindfulness of Gender\nWe extend a special invitation to those who identity as non-binary\, gender nonconforming and their allies. \nwith JD Doyle\, Loujie Kim\, Rene Rivera & Bri Barnett\nWhat does it mean to be a boy? woman? genderqueer? gender nonconforming? transgender? agender? or none of the above? Gender identities and presentations profoundly impact all areas of our lives. Through meditations and interactive activities\, we will embrace our experiences and explore our conditioning around gender and the dynamics of gender that are alive for each of us. As we open to all aspects of ourselves and others\, we can nurture a world that is founded in inclusivity and freedom for all. \nREGISTER HERE \nCost: There is no registration fee for attending this event\, nor most EBMC events. However\, EBMC is not independently funded. The Center and the teachers will be sustained only by your voluntary donations (the practice of generous giving\, or “dana”).

SUMMARY:Practicing "Letting Go" with Forgiveness & Goodwill
DESCRIPTION:with Keiryū Liên Shutt \nImpermanence is part of life. We want “to move on” through wishing ourselves or another well\, yet it’s hard to do. The thought of “sending goodwill” is nice but it may seem insurmountable.\n\nThis 1-day workshop and retreat provides a gentle container to foster letting go of old hurts and pains. In the morning\, teachings\, exercises and practices on forgiveness are offered. In the afternoon\, we switch to a retreat format: engaging in guided meditations\, generating goodwill to specific categories. \n\n* Please bring any form of mementos for those you’d like to generate forgiveness and/or goodwill to in these meditations. \nSpace is limited and registration is requested. REGISTER HERE. \nCost: There is no registration fee for attending this event\, nor most EBMC events. However\, EBMC is not independently funded. The Center and the teachers will be sustained only by your voluntary donations (the practice of generous giving\, or “dana”). This introductory workshop will include mindfulness meditation with guidance\, information-packed talks\, skill-building exercises\, and a supportive community environment to get you started in these helpful practices. \nOpen to anyone with depression. \nSpace is limited and registration is requested. \nREGISTER HERE \nCost: There is no registration fee for attending this event\, nor most EBMC events. However\, EBMC is not independently funded. The Center and the teachers will be sustained only by your voluntary donations (the practice of generous giving\, or “dana”).
