Wise Speech: Communicating with Wisdom, Kindness and Truth

Speech has the power to heal or to hurt deeply. It is often the aspect of behavior off the cushion where people feel they need the most attention. How can we communicate clearly and honestly? How can we avoid saying things that we later regret? How can we speak to others with integrity in the complexity of life? What do the Buddhist teachings have to say about speech (hint: it's more than just "Don't Lie"!). Join us for this exploration of wise speech through meditation, reflection, discussion and practice of speaking and listening. Open to all levels of experience in meditation, including beginners. Accommodations and adaptations will be made for those with limited physical abilities and/or injuries.

Cost: There is no registration fee for attending this event, nor most EBMC events. However, EBMC is not independently funded. The Center and the teachers will be sustained only by your voluntary donations (the practice of generous giving, or "dana"). Please donate generously, in proportion to your ability:

  • Either online (you will be offered an opportunity at the end of the online registration process)
  • Or at the event, in the two baskets at EBMC, one for the Center, the second for the Teacher
